La Malinche - Matlalcuéyetl 4,462m (14,639 ft)

The fifth highest of Mexico's peaks, located about 120 km (75 mi) north-east of Mexico City near the city of Tlaxcala.

This beautiful mountain is a great introduction to the world of the mountains. Lower, pine trees covered slopes make first part of climb pleasant and interesting while upper, sandy, grassy part is an ideal place to rest before the final rocky ascent.

La Malinche is a great acclimatization climb before higher peaks.
